None of the search engine optimization methods are difficult or overly technical, all are easily accomplished by any web author. The key is to apply a broad range of the various methods to create an overall strategy. The book provides you with the big picture of different methods in use today, what tools are available, and how (and why) to use them.
You may have used some of the tools and methods described in this book. In fact, most web authors are probably using many of the tools available. This book allows you to identify any search optimization strategies which you may be missing or overlooking.
This book helped me put together a web marketing and SEO strategy to best take advantage of free search engine links (organic links). The value of using the techniques in this book will have long term benefits as the search engine rankings of my site improve.

First, my bias. SEO is largely a dull, tedious business in my opinion. I don’t suggest you commit to it unless you’re passionate about something–your product, your service, your audience. There are easier ways to make a living than building a successful website. But if you are passionate, there’s no better way to build long-term success than SEO.
Matt and I worked together several years at Bing Ads, mostly with small and medium business customers. His interest in the SMB segment is evident in the book. It’s a self-help book for the small business owner, a guide to guerilla SEO if you can’t afford a hired gun. His step-by-step, no nonsense approach will be invaluable to people with too little time, too little money, and too much to do.
The key to web marketing is knowing your audience and providing them something they value. No book can help you with that but this book will help you with everything that follows.
